Message from Shire President, Cr Wayne Fewster
On the morning of Tuesday 30 April, the Shire experienced the passage of a severe thunderstorm ahead of a significant rain event. The lightning generated from this thunderstorm was the source of no less than 15 separate fires that were reported across the Shire from Beermullah to Bambun, and other areas in between. The Lancelin area also experienced one incident during the course
of the storm.
The suppression efforts of the multiple fire incidents required the assistance of numerous groups and individuals across the Shire, and on behalf of the Elected Members, Staff, and the greater community I wish to extend our grateful thanks to the following:
Fire personnel from the following Brigades:
o From Gingin Shire - Gingin South, Gingin West, Beermullah, Red Gully, Ocean Farm, Cowalla, Gingin VFRS and Lancelin VFRS
o From Wanneroo - Two Rocks, Quinns and Wanneroo Central
o Bullsbrook VFRS
All the farmers who assisted.
The Gull Roadhouse for preparing lunches for a multitude of volunteers despite having no power.
Everyone who assisted the Incident Management Team at the Gingin Emergency Service Centre.
DFES staff.
Gingin Shire Rangers.
