Australian Warning System now Live!

Western Australia has now joined with other states and territories to deliver nationally consistent emergency information through the implementation of the Australian Warning System (AWS).

This newly implemented system is a nationally consistent 3 tier warning system featuring standardised names, colours and clear steps for the community to take.

The biggest change is with cyclones. The existing blue, yellow, and red alert cyclone warnings will be replaced with 'advice', 'watch and act', and 'emergency warning', the same as you've come to know with bushfires.

The aim of the AWS is to let the community know of decisive actions they might need to take in an emergency. Changing the cyclone and storm warnings to be in line on a national scale will ensure consistent messages when cyclones cross between one state or territory.
