On Thursday 24 October, the Shire of Gingin held a Special Meeting of Council to elect a new Shire President, and subsequently a new Deputy Shire President, and to appoint Councillors to committees and advisory groups to fill vacancies created following former Shire President Cr Wayne Fewster’s Resignation. Newly appointed Cr Andrea Vis also took her declaration of office prior to this Special Meeting of Council.
We are delighted to announce our new Shire President is Cr Linda Balcombe, and our new Deputy Shire President is Cr Robert Kestel.
Cr Balcombe’s election to the office of Shire President marks a historic occasion as she has become the first female President in the Shire’s 130-year local government history.
Cr Balcombe, Cr Kestel and Cr Vis all made their Declarations of Office before local Justice of the Peace, Margaret Greenwell at the meeting.
Congratulations Councillors!
