Rubbish Bins & Landfills

The Shire of Gingin provides a weekly rubbish service in all towns and rural residential areas (excludes residential estates) within the Shire.

This service includes general waste collection (red lid bin) and recyclables (yellow lid bin), and is available to property owners along the rubbish collection route. This service forms part of and supports the Waste Authority's 'Better Bins' initiative.

What's my Rubbish Collection Day?

Across the Shire your rubbish bin collection day will vary depending upon what area you live in. Where rubbish collection days fall on a public holiday it will be collected as normal with the exception of Christmas Day only.

To work out your rubbish collection day (both general waste and recycling) please view a copy of the Shire's Recycling Calendar below.

I Need a Replacement Bin?

If you need a replacement bin then please contact the Shire's Rates Department on (08) 9575 5100 (option 2) or email rates@gingin.wa.gov.au

Note: If your bin has been stolen or damaged then there is a $104.00 replacement charge which must be paid prior to delivery of the new bin. Once payment is received the Shire will contact Avon Waste to organise your replacement bin.

If your bin needs replacing through general wear and tear, please let our Rates team know and they will arrange for Avon Waste to replace it free of charge.

Where are the Shire's Landfill Sites?

  • The landfill sites are closed on Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day.
  • Clean green waste is to be separated from your general rubbish and placed in the area set aside for this purpose.
